⚔️ Real Weapons Policy – Edson Renaissance Faire ⚔️
To maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, performers, and vendors, the following policy applies to any real or replica weapons brought onto faire grounds:
🛡️3D or prop weapons are allowed--but they must follow strict saftey guidelines to keep the atmosphere immersive and secure.
✅What's typically allowed
Foam, plastic, and wood props (e.g. swords, axes, bows) are usually permitted. If you are planning to bring a 3D-printed weapon, make sure:
-
It's clearly a non-functional prop
-
It's peace-tied or zip-tied to your costume
-
You're ready to have it inspected at the gate
🔗 Peace-Tied Requirement
All real weapons (including but not limited to swords, daggers, axes, spears, and similar items) must be peace-tied at all times while on site. This applies to both attendees and participants.
-
Peace-tying means the weapon is secured in its sheath or holster with a visible tie (such as leather, cord, or zip-tie) that prevents it from being drawn.
-
Weapons must remain sheathed and may not be unsheathed, brandished, or handled in a threatening or theatrical manner unless part of an approved performance.
🚫 Prohibited Items
-
Live steel (sharpened blades) is prohibited unless you are a registered performer or vendor, and the item is part of a scheduled demonstration or securely displayed for sale.
-
No functional firearms or projectile weapons are allowed under any circumstances.
-
Bows may be carried if unstrung or strung without arrows; arrows must be tied together or secured in a quiver with points covered.
✅ Performer & Vendor Exceptions
If your act or demonstration involves functional weapons, it must be pre-approved by the Faire organizers. Safety protocols and performance times must be submitted in advance. Vendors selling weapons must ensure all items displayed are secured and sold items are peace-tied before leaving the booth.
🔍 Enforcement
Security or Faire staff will inspect weapons at the gate and throughout the event. Anyone failing to comply with this policy may be asked to peace-tie their weapon or remove it from site. Repeat offenses may result in ejection from the faire grounds.
Thank you for helping us keep the Edson Renaissance Faire safe and magical for all!
